A winter storm sweeping through Buffalo, New York has claimed the lives of three people, with up to four feet of snow expected in some parts of the area.
Three people have died during the blizzard as rescue workers were unable to reach two people with health problems.
Erie County Executive Secretary Mark Poloncarz said the blizzard could be “the worst storm in our community’s history.”
Over 28 inches of snow was measured at Buffalo Airport as of 7 p.m. Saturday, according to the National Weather Service, and more is expected to fall overnight into Sunday.

“It is very clear to me that the effects of climate change are wreaking havoc everywhere, from the flooding streets of Queens to the city of Buffalo,” Democratic New York Gov. Kathy Hochul said during a news briefing Saturday. “But what is happening as we speak in Buffalo is life threatening. I get calls all night from terrified neighbors where the temp has been off for many, many hours.”

Parts of Hamburg, a Buffalo suburb, were evacuated Friday due to possible flooding in the low-lying area, according to Fox Weather.
Due to the winter storm, Buffalo Airport closed its doors until 11 a.m. Monday

At the Hoaks restaurant in Hamburg, waves and freezing temperatures caused massive ice to form on the property.
