The New York Jets quarterback situation is complicated as Zach Wilson’s bench press Thursday night sparked speculation not only for the remainder of the season but going forward.
In what may be the biggest game of his career to date, with AFC wildcard hopes for New York at stake on their home turf against another playoff-hungry team, the Jacksonville Jaguars, Wilson threw a dud. He went 9 of 18 for 92 yards with one interception and no touchdowns before the Jets benched him for fourth-string quarterback Chris Streveler, who was activated before kickoff.
To see Streveler being able to move offense more than Wilson broke the spirit of many Jets fans considering Wilson is said to be the franchise quarterback as the No. 2 overall last season.

According to Fox Sports’ Jay Glazer, the Jets no longer see him as that guy, which would be a massive design flaw by GM Joe Douglas.
“You’ve lost all faith in Zach Wilson,” Glazer said Saturday. “Zach lost confidence himself going into the last game and came out with even less confidence. Expect the Jets to pull away from him after this season.”

Wilson has not won as a starter against the Buffalo Bills in a tight 20-17 AFC East fight since Week 9. Wilson went 18 of 25 for 154 and a touchdown in that game.
The ensuing matchup with the New England Patriots, however, brought some questions at quarterback after Wilson went 9-of-22 for 77 yards in the 10-3 loss. When asked after the game if offense had let down defense — Gang Green dropped just three points until Marcus Jones returned a punt for a touchdown late in the game to seal the Patriots’ win — Wilson replied simply with “No”. which reportedly rubbed teammates the wrong way.
But with two games left this season and the Jets mathematically not eliminated from the playoffs, there’s plenty to play over the next two weeks. Who will be quarterback if the Jets want to pull out of Wilson?

It’s a complicated answer as Mike White, the man who replaced Wilson after being benched after that game in New England, is battling fractured ribs. Glazer said “there are multiple breaks,” but if White can play the Seattle Seahawks next week, he will start.
If not, head coach Robert Saleh’s words after Thursday’s 19-3 loss to the Jaguars seemed to suggest Wilson will be under center.

“We didn’t see him last,” he told reporters.
Also, could Saleh talk about the Jets’ future as a quarterback as well as those last two regular-season fights? It’s a tough and crucial decision for Jets Brass as they still hope to break their 11-year playoff drought.
