by The image above shows the various Spider characters fighting the villain in the upcoming film Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is so damn wild! I love it! The visuals are incredible and the idea of this scene playing out in my head is just insane. The setting for this scene in the image above is the Indian-inspired Mumbattan, one of five new universes introduced in the film.
Speaking about the film during an interview with Empire, producer Chris Mueller explained, “Our contract with the audience is to give them something they’ve never seen before. The first film was about bringing characters into Miles’ dimension. This is about Miles going after other people.”
When we talk about these new universes. co-director Joaquim Dos Santos explains that they basically made five films in one: “Any world is a robust place. We essentially did five films in one.”
The new universes include Gwen’s Earth-65, with its distinctive watercolor palette; the Indian-inspired Mumbattan; Nueva York, home of Oscar Isaac‘s Spider-Man 2099, also known as Miguel O’Hara; the punky New London inhabited by Daniel Kaluya‘s Hobart “Hobie” Brown a.k.a. Spider-Punk; and then there’s a secret fifth dimension that’s being kept under wraps for the time being.
Writer and Producer Phil Lord promises that “it’s going to be tough” and that “the visuals will be stunning”. Voice actor of Mile Morales Shameik Moore further teased: “I will say that this story beats the first. If the sky was the limit last time, now the sky is the ground. We step on it and look at Jupiter!”
That all sounds damn awesome! The film follows Miles Morales as Brooklyn’s friendly neighborhood Spider-Man, “who delves into the multiverse where he joins forces with Gwen Stacy and a new team of Spider-People to take on a villain more powerful than all ever met them.”
After reuniting with Gwen Stacy, “Brooklyn’s friendly full-time neighborhood Spider-Man is catapulted through the multiverse where he encounters a team of Spider-People tasked with protecting his existence. But when the heroes clash over how to deal with a new threat, Miles faces the other Spiders and must redefine what it means to be a hero so he can save the people he loves most .”
The film will consist of 240 characters that will swing around in this film and the cast includes as well Hailee Steinfeld as Gwen, Brian Tyree Henry as Miles’ father Jefferson Davis; Luna Lauren Velez as Miles’ mother, Rio Morales; Issa Rae as Jessica Drew, a.k.a. Spider-Woman; Jorma Tacone as a vulture; Rachel Dratch; Shea Whigham; Greta Lee; AndJason Schwartzman as a point.
The film is directed and produced by Justin K Thompson, Joaquim Dos SantosAnd Kemp Powers. Avi Arad, Amy Pascal, Phil Lord, and Chris Miller And Christine Steinberg produce too. Lord and Miller are also credited as the film’s writers David Callham.
