Games Nintendo Wants to Add to Game Boy and Game Boy Advance Libraries on Switch Online GeekTyrant

During last week’s Nintendo Direct, it was announced that Game Boy, Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advanced titles would be added to Nintendo Switch Online and Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pass. This is a huge win for Nintendo in my opinion, and I know many others have been eagerly awaiting their additions as well. I thought it would be fun to talk about some games that I would like to add to these respective libraries.

Here are the guidelines I’ve set for myself. First I’m going to split it into Game Boy/Color and Game Boy Advance to fit the way they are available on the Nintendo Switch. Second, I will limit each list to ten titles. Third, I won’t add anything that’s already available or coming to the Switch in any other way (eg Mega Man Battle Network games, shantae, etc.). Please remember that this is just my wish list compilation and does not constitute a guarantee in any way and I don’t even know how possible some of them would be. Which games would you like to add?

Game Boy/Color

  • Already available

    • Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare

    • Game & Watch Gallery 3

    • Gargoyle’s Quest

    • Kirby’s Dreamland

    • Metroid II – Return of Samus

    • Super Mario Land 2 – 6 gold coins

    • tetris

    • The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening DX

    • Wario Land 3

  • Already announced

    • Kirby’s Tilt ‘n’ Tumble

    • Pokémon trading card game

    • The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages

    • The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of the Seasons

  • top wishes

Game Boy Advance

  • Already available

    • Kuru Kuru Kururin

    • Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga

    • Mario Kart: Super Circuit

    • Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3

    • The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap

    • WarioWare Inc.: Mega Microgame$

  • Already announced

  • top wishes

    • Dragon Ball Z: The Legacy of Goku

    • Dragon Ball Z: Supersonic Warriors

    • Final Fantasy Tactics progression

    • Medabot’s Metabee/Rokusho

    • Metroid Zero mission

    • Pokemon R/S/E/FR/LG

      • Just like the Game Boy games, I’m amazed none of the core Pokémon games were launch titles. The first three generations are highly regarded by many, with the third generation typically being among the top three generations of any fan. What the hell?

    • Spider-Man: Mysterio’s Menace

    • The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords

      • This is somewhat difficult for a number of reasons. First, it was on the same cartridge as a port of A Link to the Past, which is already available on Switch Online via the SNES. Also, Four Swords is multiplayer only, although to my knowledge it was later re-released as DSiWare for a limited time, which introduced a single player mode. Maybe we could get this version? I’d love to play a multiplayer Zelda game that isn’t a spinoff, and this is probably my best bet.

    • Yu-Gi-Oh! games

      • Just put them all in. There were a few and they are a mixed bag. You have the ones that actually make you play the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG, there are those who say fuck the rules and give you a dark JRPG, and then you have the spin-offs like Dungeon Dice Monsters. Just give them all to me!

    • Zoid’s legacy

      • I love Zoids and I’ve played quite a bit of this game in my past but never finished it. It’s a really fun turn-based RPG in which you can customize your Zoids and throw all of the different show timelines and universes into a single story, meaning you’ll likely encounter your favorite characters no matter what show they’re from .
