by John Wick: Chapter 4 is an absolute masterpiece of action-packed, breathtaking thrills that will keep fans hooked from start to finish. Like all of you, I was super excited for this movie and seriously, how often does it happen that people get excited about a fourth movie in a franchise?! It’s a rare thing to find a franchise where every movie that gets released just keeps getting better, but the John Wick franchise has achieved that.
Keanu Reeves reprises the role of legendary assassin John Wick, and he delivers the entertaining and familiar performance we’ve come to know and love. From his impeccable martial arts skills to his effortless charisma, Reeves embodies the character of Wick with a level of badassery that captivates and entertains audiences.
While Reeves is one of the main selling points of this film, the action sequences are really next level. Each fight sequence is choreographed to perfection, with a level of precision and intensity that will leave you amazed. The stunts are mind-blowing and the gun-fu is some of the most exciting you’ll ever see on the big screen.
One of the film’s standout action scenes is a stunningly choreographed car chase and fight scene set in Paris. Reeves previously discussed this imaginative car fu scene, and in it, Wick takes on an army of assassins and takes them down in the middle of heavy traffic in the uniquely craziest way. We got a taste of this scene in the trailers, but seeing it in its entirety on the big screen is quite an amazing experience!
This is just one of many action scenes in which Wick will use every imaginable and extraordinary trick to bring down his opponents! Reeves previously said that this film has the most action of all John Wick film, and he does not lie! It’s also some of the best action we’ve seen in the franchise, and it all leads to an amazing climax. These scenes are just so intricate and well executed, and there is some great camera work that helps bring these scenes to life in an incredible way.
I just want to point out one of my favorite sequences from the movie. I won’t spoil anything, but the sequence features Wick wielding a Dragon Breathe shotgun and it’s one of the finest hard-hitting action scenes you’ll ever see.
Well, let’s talk about it Donnie Yen. We all know the guy is an insanely talented martial artist and his inclusion in Chapter 4 elevates the franchise epic! He’s 100% the MVP of the movie and you can tell he had a blast making this thing! He has several fight sequences with Reeves that are easily among the most impressive in the franchise and for that matter any action movie! They are brutal, complex and fast-moving. Yen’s fighting style is fluid and graceful while Reeves is powerful and precise, creating a perfect contrast that makes their fight scenes together unforgettable.
He also brings a level of seriousness and depth to his character that adds a new layer of complexity to the film. Yen’s character is both friend and foe of John Wick, and his relationship with Wick is one of the most interesting dynamics in the film. The supporting cast are equally impressive, with outstanding performances from Laurence Fishburne, Ian McShaneAnd Clancy Brown.
While all of that is great, the story is also rich and layered, with interesting elements that fans won’t see coming. John Wick: Chapter 4 definitely raises the bar for action movies, and it’s one of the best and most suspenseful action movies ever made! You will love it!
