Britney Spears still gets mad when people call the police to check on her – and now she’s directing her frustration at actress Alyssa Milano, who tweeted more than six weeks ago: “Please get someone to check on Britney Spears. ”
“It makes me sad to see things about me from people who don’t know me!!!” the singer wrote on her Instagram Stories late Tuesday, to which she attached a photo of Milano’s Dec. 20 tweet. “This definitely feels like a form of bullying!!! Ladies we are supposed to be cheering each other on not dragging each other down!!!”
Spears — who deactivated her Instagram account for a few days last week, as she had done many times before — gently rebuked her fans after some of them called Ventura County law enforcement on the night of Jan. 24 to reconcile to apply for a welfare check.
According to the “I’m a Slave 4 U” singer, who wrote on Instagram after the Sheriffs left, such a review was not necessary: ”I love and adore my fans but this time things went a little too far and my privacy was violated. The police never entered my house and when they got to my gate they quickly realized there was no problem and left immediately.”
She continued, “It felt like I was being set on fire and being bullied as the incident made the news and was again portrayed in a bad and unfair light by the media.” She then asked fans to respect their privacy.
It’s unclear why Spears decided to focus on Milano’s tweet Tuesday night, or why Milano tweeted it. Back then, just before Christmas, some Very Online fans had renewed concerns for Spears’ safety because they believed they saw her — in a since-deleted video — make a hand signal signifying a person’s help needs.
On the same day as the Milano tweet, Spears posted three videos that were filmed in Mexico, where she went with her husband Sam Asghari for her 40th birthday on December 2nd. TMZ reported that fans were concerned because they thought she was posting “old” content from Birthday Trip, and she had mentioned she was going to New York City, despite the lack of paparazzi photos showing her in the Big Apple showed.
But “sources close to the singer” told the outlet that the pair are back in Mexico and that the content is new. Spears did a head fake and told fans she was in New York City, sources told TMZ.
Spears was under the watchful eye of a conservatory — which included intrusive and possibly illegal surveillance — from early 2008 until her release nearly 14 years later in November 2021. Since fighting for her personal freedom from supervision, Spears has been suspended to continue being watched over by fans concerned for her safety.
